    MBA PRESENTATION:

    Deusto Business School is launching its international full-time MBA in January 2013. Our intention is for it to become the most prominent and international program of the School.

    The MBA is the result of two converging realities:

    a. On one hand, the long-established prestige of Deusto in the education of the most representative corporate leaders in Spain today due to its rigorous approach to the fundamentals of management.
    b. On the other hand, the new international trends in business education, centered on the three dimensions of sustainability, digital networked strategy and innovation and entrepreneurship. Specifically, by creating its new MBA, Deusto Business School aims to be a pioneering school directly inspired by the framework of the UN-supported initiative, Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).


    THE PROGRAM:

    Deusto MBA delivers a unique experience to participants through its approach and methodology. The differential nature of the program is encapsulated in four specific features of the curriculum:

    - The Approach to Sustainability

    - The approach to the Digital Networked Enterprise

    - Innovation and Entrepreneurship and a hands-on approach to a Real Project

    - The Sustain4 Service Learning Program:
    1. Theoretical Training in the Classroom
    2. Practical Training in the South (or in the headquarters of a non-governmental organization in the North)

    ACADEMIC CONTENT:

    SEMESTER 1: THE ENVIRONMENT:

    During this semester, students will become familiar with the content of the course and the skills needed to heighten their awareness of the context and environment in which companies operate.

    From an international perspective, country analyses and the macro and micro perspectives of the global economy, students will gain the skills needed for formulating a strategy for aligning global trends with local markets. This will be supported by
    financial analysis and an examination of capital markets.

    SEMESTER 2: THE COMPANY

    During this semester, students will work on the execution of strategy, i.e. how to sell a product or service, how to organize a company and how to prepare to implement operations.

    The objective of this semester is for students to master the implementation of any strategy, identify the most critical parts of the company, and discover the link between them. However, to introduce a strategy, managers need to be aware of change
    management techniques and how to work in teams in order to transform them and/or a company.

    SEMESTER 3: ELECTIVES AND “SUSTAIN4” SERVICE LEARNING.

    Electives:

    This semester takes place in San Sebastian and New York, and focuses on the  elective courses. The students will be able to choose electives from four different tracks: Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Finance, Sustainability and the Digital and
    Networked Enterprise.

    It is expected that students will chose four electives courses during this period: two in San Sebastián and two in NY.

    Deusto MBA is not a traditional program and is not for everyone. It is designed for participants who seek to enhance their managerial competencies and skills, whilst developing the appropriate attitudes and aptitudes for solving the management
    and leadership challenges of the 21st century. In short, we are seeking to help shape authentic managers of change who are prepared to look for more complex but sustainable solutions to the corporate global challenges of today and of the future.


    PRINCIPLES OF THE DEUSTO MBA:

        *Aim of Deusto MBA: To provide talented participants with the appropriate learning environment to become professionals and leaders who work for the sustainable growth of companies, society and the planet, who master the ongoing digital and Internet revolution and who develop the entrepreneurial and creative mind needed in this era of social and economic disruptive change.
        *Corporate values transmitted by Deusto MBA: Our MBA program incorporates values that promote human rights, the full development of employees and care for the environment as basic values of a successful and competitive enterprise. These values also advocate transparency to combat corruption, explore ways to fight poverty, foster the discovery of new socially useful products and services as well as contribute to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the ideal of smart and inclusive global governance.
        *Personal values enhanced in Deusto MBA: The participants of the MBA are taught the values of reflective and courageous leadership: integrity, cooperation to compete, leading by example and social and environmental awareness of decision-making processes.
        *Curriculum of Deusto MBA: The MBA curriculum contains the vision, tools, organizational skills and personal competencies to master the four basic dimensions necessary for a company's success in the business environment of the 21st. century: an update of fundamental theories and management practices, sustainable business, the digital networked enterprise and an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset.
        *Methodology of Deusto MBA: We combine traditional MBA methodologies (case studies, simulators and teamwork) with new experiential frameworks of learning-by-doing, such as work on real projects within a corporate environment, and service learning dealing with the impact of corporate operations on communities.
        *Professional Development with Deusto MBA: We act as facilitators in building bridges between sustainable corporations and a new generation of globally responsible, entrepreneurial and internetworked leaders.
